Mike and I have spent the day at QuiltCon–it is beautiful and inspiring and exhausting and more. It has been fun to come to QuiltCon with fresh eyes–I haven’t attended in 5 years, and Mike has never been.

Seeing the show with fresh eyes has its perks–everything feels interesting and new. And sometimes there are really funny moments–Mike and I were in the press room today when Carolyn Friedlander came in. We chatted with her for a few minutes–and then Mike said, “So, do you have anything going on this weekend here?”  Carolyn, always gracious, said, “I have a few things going on.” I laughed and said, “Yeah. Like the keynote and a special exhibit.” We all had a good laugh about it.

I took a Lino cut class today with Karen Lewis (one of our designers, and she hand delivered her quilt to me today!), and had such a fun time learning something new and getting to know the women sitting around me. Pro Tip: When trying something totally new, its best to go in with no expectations. I was thrilled with what I printed, even if I accidentally bought the wrong paint, and mine were among the simplest blocks.

My table mate, Raquel [@raquelsews], cut the coolest block today–she printed it in a repeat on linen, but she was awesome and made me a print. I’m definitely hanging it in my sewing room.

Tomorrow, we are interviewing different quilters, including a family where the mom, dad, and child each have a quilt in the show, our best in show winner, and talking to some of the quilters whose quilts have social messages in addition to being stunning work.

Happy sewing!
